Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility is to protect the public from people who pose a threat to society. Our mission is accomplished by operating a safe, secure, and humane facility that is in compliance with state and federal law, as well as the American Correctional Association standards. Our employees are highly trained professionals and will uphold ethically sound behavior at all times.

About the Facility

The Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility, located in Central Falls, RI, is operated by the Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation (CFDFC). It is a quasi-public corporation governed by a five-member Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor of Central Falls. The Board, in turn, appoints an administrator of the corporation who is responsible for overseeing the management and overall operation of the corporation and the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility.

The Facility operates at maximum security providing housing for up to 730 adult male and up to 40 adult female detainees and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). During the most recent re-accreditation audit, the Facility received a 100% rating on all mandatory and non-mandatory ACA standards.

Regular inspections of the Facility are conducted by various oversight agencies including the United States Marshals Service, Quality Assurance Reviews and Rhode Island Department of Public Health among others.

Detainees housed within the facility are in the custody of the United States Marshals Service’s various jurisdictions including, but not limited to: Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. The facility also houses detainees who are in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), United States Navy, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe.

Notice to Visitors

Visitors are required to present all required documents to the officer posted in the lobby for check in.  This includes but is not limited to, NON-EXPIRED GOVERNMENT ISSUED DRIVER LICENSES/IDENTIFICATION CARDS, birth certificates of minors, notarized letters granting permission for minors to visit a detainee with someone other than the parent/legal guardian, and/or letters of approval from the Warden.  BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO THE DESK – PLEASE USE THE TIME CLOCK PROVIDED TO TIME STAMP YOUR PAPERWORK.  IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU ARRIVE 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOU VISIT TIME.  BY STAMPING YOUR PAPERWORK BEFORE YOU GET TO THE DESK, IT WILL INDICATE THE EXACT TIME YOU ARRIVED AND SHOW THAT YOU ARE WITHIN THE 30 MINUTE WINDOW.

Please review the updated Visitor Rules & Regulations and Dress Code on the facility website.  Visitors who are inappropriately dressed will be asked to leave and may return when properly dressed.  Failure to comply, will result in the visit being denied.

In order to allow staff to properly process the visit, visitors must arrive at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of a session.  After thirty (30) minutes, the visit may be delayed or denied.

You are is required to check in with the medical staff member/Temperature Reader in the lobby before entering the visitation area. You may be denied access to the visitation area if you have a fever or present symptoms related to COVID-19.

Revise el código de vestimento actualizado en el sitio web de la instalación. A los visitantes que estén vestidos de manera inapropiada se les pedirá que se vayan y podrán regresar cuando estén vestidos apropiadamente. El incumplimiento resultará en la denegación de la visita.

No habrá visitas prolongadas. El no dejar el área de visitas al final de la sesión puede resultar en la revocación de sus privilegios de visitas.

Para permitir que el personal procese adecuadamente la visita, los visitantes deben llegar al menos treinta (30) minutos antes del inicio de una sesión. Después de treinta (30) minutos, la visita puede retrasarse o negarse.
