Since 2004, the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility has been contributing to and participating in events that benefit the Special Olympics of Rhode Island (SORI). Some of the annual events that staff has been involved in are the Torch Run, which is the largest fundraising event for the SORI, the Motorcycle Run, the Torch Run Golf Tournament, Pasta Dinner, the Torch Run Plunge, the Winter and Summer games, and the Charity Fashion Show.

The Facility has been a Gold Sponsor of the Torch Run since 2011, an event primarily supported by Fire, Police, and Corrections professionals throughout the state of Rhode Island.

In 2013, CFDFC employees raised more than $4,400 through donations, a fund-raising cookout and raffle, and t-shirt sales.
